Abstract

A strange attractor is considered in a system of ordinary differential equations that arises in synergetics and is of interest in some applied problems. The main qualitative features and quantitative characteristics of the solutions are studied. Certain mathematical objects connected with the non-periodic solutions of the system are studied, such as the Poincaré mapping and different one-dimensional mappings that have proved useful as simplified models. The results can be used to analyse stochastic modes in more complex cases.
