Abstract

The first strong-coupling contribution to the canonical entropy of a classical gas is analyzed in the simple case of a Gaussian potential. In agreement with the results by Prigogine et al., it is shown that two different kinds of contributions appear and that only one of them can be identified with the thermodynamical entropy.
