Abstract
Using the static model and the effective range approximation we investigate the possibility of a Λπ resonance withJ=3/2 or 5/2 in different orbital momentum states. In particular we find that if the resonance hasJ=3/2 andl=2 the observed width may be reproduced if the ΣΛ parity is odd with the ΣΛπ coupling constantgΣΛπ2/4π≈ 20. If, however, the ΣΛ parity is evengΣΛπ2/4π comes out to be of the order of 100.
