Abstract

Summary A general technique for solving a large class of well-posed inverse eigenvalue problems is illustrated by means of a specific example. The example considered consists in reconstructing the coefficients p(x) and q(x) associated with the eigenvalue problem d4)- (pu’)’ +qu = Lu from a knowledge of three spectra.
