Abstract

Abstract The current work focusses on the designing and manufacturing process followed by tribo-evaluation of high-performance polymeric bearings based on tribo-optimized composition in earlier work on pin on disc configuration. A series of bearings was developed by a combination of graphite (10 wt%) as a primary lubricant and particles of metal chalcogenides (MoS2 and WS2) in micro and nano-form as secondary lubricants (10%) into Polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK) matrix (50%) reinforced by 30% glass fibers (GF). Tribo-performance assessment of bearings against shaft was critically done and performance of the product (bearing) and material (pin against disc) was critically compared to understand the difference in performance, from material to the product.
