Abstract

A simple model for the distribution of suspended homogeneus sediments in a steady – uniform open channel flow is presented. The model is derived for the layer close to the bed under the assumption that sediment and fluid velocities are the same. The final equation is similar to Rouse’s equation, but a boundary condition may be easily imposed at the bed, assuming for instance a saturation value for the volume concentration. The results of the model agree with experimental data through the whole flow depth.
