Abstract

The flood of 2013 in the Amur River basin was the heaviest in that region for the past few decades. It embraced all rivers of the basin, including the Chinese part. This disaster had catastrophic consequences despite the fact that the Zeyan and Bureyan reservoirs mitigated the impact of floodwaters on the level regime of the Middle Amur. The paper heard on December 10, 2013, at a meeting of the RAS Presidium discussed the causes of the flood, its consequences, and methods of modeling and forecasting such events in the future.
