Abstract

Physics Department, Swansea University,Singleton Park, Swansea SA2 8PP, UKE-mail:ropelleg@to.infn.itOwing to Lorentz invariance, the leading terms in the effective action describing the low-energydynamics of flux tubes in a confining gauge theory are universa l. Besides the terms correspond-ing to the Nambu-Goto action, Lorentz invariance also allows terms describing a “rigid string”,proposed long ago by Kleinert and Polyakov as a model for confi nement in a dual superconductorscenario. In this contribution we discuss some of the non-trivial properties of this type of stringand evaluate analytically the corrections to the interquark potential induced by extrinsic curvatureterms appearing in the rigid string action.IFT-UAM/CSIC-14-108The 32nd International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory,23-28 June, 2014Columbia University New York, NY
