Abstract

The kinematical analysis of the residual nuclei in the interactions of 25 GeV/ c protons with heavy nuclei in low sensitivity nuclear emulsion was made for a sample of 354 stars containing 8Li fragments. The average velocity component in the direction of the beam is β x = 0.004±0.002 for recoils and β x = 0.015±0.003 for 8Li fragments. The average mass number of residual nuclei is found to be about 30. In 30% of all the stars the masses of residual nuclei are comparable to those of other fragments. A correlation of the directions of motion of the residual nucleus and the emitted 8Li fragment is found.
