Abstract

Abstract d1. It is a fairly common situation in practice that a statistician has at hand population figures distributed over a very large field of partitions. He wants to be able to handle this material using only a smaller number of elementary units. The reason is, of course, that this is more practical, but it is also often due to the fact that he needs some smoothening of his rough data, that he wants to fill in gaps in his series of figures for some constellations of partitions, that he wants to make his figures more accessible to those having to use them in their daily work etc.
