Abstract

The comparison of the indices of economic complexity of regions based on data on production volumes by sector and the indices based on data on types of economic activity is carried out. The possibility of choosing the threshold value of the indicator of the identified comparative advantages RCA for assessing economic complexity, as well as for assessing the relationship of economic complexity indices and indicators of socio-economic development is analyzed. The possibility of choosing the threshold value of the indicator of the identified comparative advantages of RCA for assessing economic complexity, as well as for assessing the relationship of economic complexity indices and indicators of socio-economic development is analyzed. It is shown that at threshold 1, the index of economic complexity by sector and the index of economic complexity by type of economic activity are highly resistant to changes in the threshold and have advantages over indices constructed at other thresholds. A significant statistical dependence of the index of economic complexity, based on data on sectors at the RCA threshold 1, with a number of indicators of socio-economic development characterizing the quality of life has been established.
