Abstract

It is shown that any one-dimensional cellular automata system can be simulated in real time by a propagating context-dependent Lindenmayer system, PD( m, n)L. Further, any PD( m, n)L system can be simulated by a one-dimensional cellular system. Although real-time simulations exist, there are PD( m, n)L systems for which a linear-time simulation is impossible.
