Abstract

• The debilitating nature of schizophrenia as well as numerous troublesome clinical symptoms aggravate suffering, affecting the higher suicide rate in this group. • There is a scarce data on relation between structural alterations and suicidal risk in schizophrenia. • The results showed the link between both suicidal risk and mental pain, and altered cortical folding in the brain areas localized mainly in fronto-parietal regions • Compared with FreeSurfer, Cmorph approach showed much more morphologically precise results related to both constructs. • Both indexes pointed mainly on the left hemisphere, which stands as a proof of asymmetry of cortical alterations related to suicidal risk and mental pain.
