Abstract

The dependence of the threshold field and switching coefficient of incoherent rotation on the static parameters of permalloy films has been investigated. It has been found that the value ΔH by which the threshold field H0 of incoherent rotation exceeds the anisotropy field Hk is inversely proportional to the mean period l⟂ of the static domains in hard axis splitting. Further, ΔH is directly proportional to the ratio Hc/Hk and increases with increasing angular dispersion α0.68. The switching coefficient is essentially independent of these parameters. The experimental dependence of ΔH(l⟂) is compared with the theoretical results of Vinogradov. It has been found that this dependence can be explained in terms of Vinogradov's theory if it is assumed that strip domains arise during pulse switching and that the period of these dynamic domains exceeds that of the static domains l⟂ by two times.
