Abstract

There is a remarkable coincidence between the form of skeletal elements and the internal forces to which these elements are subject. In movements, the internal forces vary to some extent. The question is raised, to which of the various stresses the shapes of the skeletal elements are adapted. To answer this question, two other problems must be solved: ? At which occasions may the highest internal forces occur? ? Which sorts of stress patterns are created by them within the bones?
