ON THE PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN ACADEMY OF ARCHITECTURE

Abstract

The term "academy" originated in Ancient Greece, nowadays, it has preserved its main features acquired in the course of historical development. The phenomenon embodies the process of acquiring, preserving and transmitting knowledge, and includes the personalities and institutions that do so.
 Academic culture is a broader concept for scientific culture. Also, the academic community is a broader notion for the scientific community. Accordingly, the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture is an academic society, not strictly scientific, because it includes architecture as a synthesizing or unifying form of the art of shaping the living environment of the population.
 Joint activities of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture and the National Union of Architects of Ukraine can bring tangible results, facilitate contacts with government agencies responsible for the development of architecture.
 The development of the creative community in modern conditions necessitates the use of the main provisions of strategic and creative management. It allows to form a positive image of creative organization, to increase competitiveness, to use limited resources more effectively, to increase profit and to formulate a clear development strategy.
 On the whole, proceeding from the above-mentioned, the main directions of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture's activity during the nearest period must be the following: 1) acquiring (scientific research) knowledge; 2) preserving and passing on knowledge; 3) practical developments in architecture and town-planning; 4) promotion and publishing activities 5) maintenance of close cooperation with the Union of Architects of Ukraine, Academy of Construction of Ukraine, establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with governmental bodies responsible for the development of architecture and urban planning.
