Abstract

This paper deals with the comparison of profits of two stochastic models A and B each consisting of two non-identical units in standby configuration. A fixed preparation time is required to put a standby and repaired units into operation. Failure time distributions of units are taken to be of a negative exponential nature whereas the repair time follows a hyper-exponential distribution. Using a regenerative point technique, various economic related measures of system effectiveness are obtained.
