Abstract
The aim of this work was to produce V 8C 7-WC and V 4C 3-WC powders with grain size between 1 and 2 μm, as a first stage of the preparation of fine grained WC-VC-Co hardmetal. V 8C 7-WC powder was produced via two routes: starting from preformed V 8C 7 and WC, and starting from V 2O 5, WC and carbon black. The V 4C 3-WC powder was not produced because all attempts led to the formation of W 2C or V 8C 7.
