Abstract

This is the second of a series of reports on the possible role of crystals in the origins of life. It deals specifically with the adsorption of Amino Acids by apatite crystals. Very little previous work has been concerned with the polymerization of biological monomers under conditions recently supposed to have existed on prebiotic earth. It has been suggested that microcrystals, such as the apatites, may possess adsorptive properties. Such crystals distributed around the shores of the ocean could have provided a massive opportunity for furthering dehydration reactions. With this in mind results are given and discussed relative to amino acid adsorption.
