Abstract

The results of the mathematical modeling of a liquid flow in a mixing vessel with a turbine impeller are presented in the paper. The calculations were carried out using the numerical codes of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS) approach. As a closure method, three different two-equation turbulence models of the k-ɛ family were applied, i.e., the Standard k-ɛ, the renormalization-group (RNG) k-ɛ and the Realizable k-ɛ model. The results of CFD simulations were verified by measurements carried out using the Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) technique.
