Abstract

Under the assumption that four-dimensional space is the true space of the Universe with “our” three-dimensional space entering into the picture as a subspace, the possibility is discussed of setting up an experiment in three-dimensional space to detect the fourth dimension. Toward this end, thermodynamic characteristics of degenerate ideal fermion and boson gases have been obtained in the general case of n spatial dimensions by generalizing the familiar expressions for three-dimensional space.
