Abstract
The energy balance in different versions of a thermonuclear reactor using magnetic mirror traps has been examined. The only energy loss considered was due to particle loss through the magnetic mirrors. It seems most probable that a self-sustaining thermonuclear reaction in a magnetic mirror trap is impossible to attain.
