Abstract

A mode selector is proposed to realize single modedness in the waveguidelike quantum devices. The mode selecting function is theoretically demonstrated by the principle of resonant tunneling effect. Its applications to quantum field-effect directional couplers and three-port devices are also theoretically studied. The result shows that the mode selector can considerably improve device function by suppressing the mode correlation in the device.
