Abstract

We assume that the pion belongs to a M=0 (non-conspiring) parent Regge trajectory and deduce the minimal t=0 behaviour of its Regge residues and the residues of its various daughters using only analyticity and factorization. It turns out that the pion trajectory decouples from and pair of identical particles at t=0. We show that, if according to the usual soft pion philosophy, one can put α π =0 at t=0, the same t=0 behaviour is arrived at starting from simple physical considerations baseds on an analogy with an elementary pion exchange. This is in favour of the assumption above on the classification of the pion.
