Abstract

In cultures with tubers which had not formed sprouts during storage the number of daughter tubers was increased in presence of 55 µg vitamin B1 and the weight of daughter tubers was increased in presence of 19 µg vitamin B1. The formation of daughter tubers was delayed for some weeks in presence of 75 µg vitamin B1. In cultures with tubers which had been kept for 2 months in the dark at room temperature and which were desprouted, the number of daughter tubers was substantially increased in presence of 49 and of 180 µg vitamin B1. The number of tubers was greatly reduced by large amounts of vitamin B1.
