Abstract

The oxidation process in the TeO 2-Cu 2O system in air at atmospheric pressure has been studied by DTA and TGA. The oxidation of Cu 2O has been discussed depending on the composition, the temperature and the time of the thermal treatment. It has been established, that the oxidated part of Cu(I) oxide is approximately 70±5%. On the basis of the investigations carried out it has been proved, that the investigated geometrical points lie on a S-like curve situated in the ternary TeO 2-Cu 2O-CuO subsystem. The phase analysis carried out shows that the phase distribution is quite complicated and it appears that the phases have to be treated containing always Cu(I) and Cu(II) oxides mutualy.
