Abstract Radial velocity observations of this 10 day Cepheid have been made using the coude' spectrograph of the DAO 48 inch (1.2 m) telescope. The new data, and some unpublished Mount Wilson coude' velocities obtained by W. S. Adams, may be fitted to early velocity curves of this star by assuming a steady rate of period decrease derived from times of maximum light. This result permits the establishment of a well-determined phase relationship between the light and velocity variations, and indicates that this relationship has remained the same for over 70 years, as has the shape of the velocity curve. Establishment of this phase relationship removes a major source of uncertainty in the determination of the Cepheid's mean radius by Wesselink's method. This radius has been redetermined using light, color, and velocity curves obtained by combining all the available data. Fernie and Hube's criterion for the establishment of proper phase relations in ambiguous cases is found to fail for Gem.
