Abstract

Computational techniques for optimal singular control synthesis in systems with time delays are discussed. A number of control vector iteration procedures are applied to a particular multivariable control problem having time delays. A new decomposition approach is then presented which seems to approximate closely the exact optimal policy for this class of problems. The optimum policy consists of an initial bang-bang portion with rapid switching followed by a terminal singular are.
