Abstract
We consider the numerical solution of the Helmholtz equation via finite element methods. A two-stage method which gives the same accuracy in the computed gradient as in the computed solution is discussed. This method is applicable to more general finite element subspaces than methods previously considered; it is also of lower computational complexity and the same conditioning as previous methods.
