Abstract
"A course of urban development appropriate to Chinese realities must be found"-this represents the consensus of recent discussions. What it means is that our research on this question should focus on two areas: the general law governing urban development, and the specific conditions of urban development in China. A course of urban development appropriate to Chinese realities will be a manifestation of the general law governing urban development under China's specific conditions.
