Abstract

The article analyzes the development of education in the Russian model of modernization. Data from statistical sources and sociological surveys show that a specific form of sociality, the "education society," came to be formed in Russia during the Soviet era, and despite a lessening of interest in obtaining an education in the 1990s, educational aspirations have returned to their earlier high levels.
