Abstract
We will here discuss certain aspects of the theories of René Thom in biology and morphogenesis and some related ideas. First, we will give a short introduction to Thom's theory and then suggest and discuss a possible generalization. Finally, we discuss how to construct mathematical models of the type of multilevel (hierarchical) systems which occur in biology.
