Abstract
Two-dimensional pre-elimination cable models are presented and assessed in relation to existing lumped mass and rod models. It is shown that the rod model enjoys certain modeling and numerical advantages not shared by the lumped mass model. Conditions for the lumped mass and rod models to produce equivalent cable configurations are illustrated with examples from the literature.
