Abstract

In this paper, we study the minimum feedback rate of time-correlated MIMO block-fading channels when water-filling precoder is applied at the transmitter side. Unlike previous work, the impact of both channel estimation errors and quantization distortion is taken into account. With the backward-channel transmission rate constraint, in the periodic feedback system, we further analyze the relations between the ergodic capacity and the feedback cycles. We found that there exists an optimal feedback cycle in terms of the ergodic capacity given the feedback capacity constraint.
