Abstract

In this work finite element micromagnetic simulations were performed in order to study the magnetic behavior of an antiferromagnetic film with uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy under the influence of external magnetic fields. The stability of the antiferromagnetic phase and metamagnetic phases arising from it, as well as the features and the evolution of the magnetic microstructure are studied in three different combinations of the easy axis and applied field directions. The investigation was carried out in a wide range of geometrical and intrinsic film’s parameters in order to derive analytical relations regarding the critical external fields.
