Abstract

The field and temperature dependence of magnetization of disordered f.c.c. ferromagnetic Fe 71(Ni 1− x Mn x ) 29 alloys have been studied. It is shown that the theory of weak itinerant ferromagnetism gives a good description of the magnetic properties of these alloys. The critical concentration for the appearance of ferromagnetism in Fe 71(Ni 1− x Mn x ) 29 has been determined by the use of Mathon plots, giving a value of x about 0.180. The temperature dependence of resistivity of these alloys shows a minimum at low temperature.
