Abstract

AbstractThe logarithmic decrement, frequency diagram obtained from the damped natural oscillation of the two ends supported elastic thin beam contains a maximum value in the range of somewhat low frequency. As is widely known, this phenomenon seems to us to be a pending problem of the theory of an elastic oscillation of the thin beam, because it is nothing but the problem of a mean to establish the law of inner resistance of solid bodies. In the investigation dealt with in this paper, the writer attempts to answer the following two questions: How is it possible to induce the analytical expression of the logarithmic decrement? What has caused the extreme value in the logarithmic decrement, frequency diagram? .
