On the large sieve method in algebraic number fields

Abstract

An inequality by Bombieri and Davenport is generalized to arbitrary algebraic number fields of finite degree over the rationals. Employing an identity due to Montgomery this inequality is applied to obtain upper estimates for prime numbers in parallelepipeds and to give a generalization of the Brun-Titchmarsh theorem to number fields.
