Abstract
AbstractThis paper brings new experimental evidence in the complex field of the humulone isomerization reaction. It is shown that double bond shift can occur (βγαβ) in isohumulone. A structure for the crystalline isomerization fraction of Carson, and experimental proof to support it is advanced. Apart from the well known humulinic acid (HAA) another humulinic acid (HAB) can be isolated from the humulone alkaline degradation reaction mixture These two humulinic acids can be transformed into each other.
