Abstract
In this paper, the problem of inverse interpolation of tabulated data is considered. The cases of inverse interpolation of monotone and nonmonotone functions are studied, with emphasis on practical issues and examples. Some applications of inverse interpolation, including approximate solution of nonlinear equations (rootfinding) and analysis of census data, are considered, and solution of several illustrative examples is presented.
