Abstract

Consideration of a μ + interacting with an 17O nucleus in a low symmetry electric field gradient (EFG) indicates that the recently observed μ +− 17O level crossing resonance in YBa 2Cu 3O x is most likely due to two μ +− 17O (site-)pairings with surprisingly small principal EFG ( V zz ) magnitudes and surprinsingly large EFG asymmetries (η).
