Abstract
A study is made of the influence of transpiration on the distribution of growth in dark-grown Avena seedlings. It appears that an increase in transpiration will cause a change in the distribution of growth in the mesocotyl in the same sense as the change that is caused by a small amount of red light i.e. the part of the mesocotyl that grows is restricted to the more apical part.
