Abstract

We study vertical cylindrical steel tanks used for the storage of petroleum and petroleum pro ducts. The effects of deviations of the geometric shape, variations in the thickness of the walls, and cracklike defects formed in the welds on the strength serviceability of the analyzed tanks are investigated.
