Abstract

AbstractFrom impedance measurements it is shown that the hydrogen ion reduction on mercury behaves as a case of pure activation polarization between ‐1.1 and ‐1.3 V vs S.C.E. with 1‐α = 0.56 and ksh = 10−15 cm · sec−1. The value of the double layer capacity in that potential range is reported. No influence of hydrogen on the double layer capacity could be observed.
