Abstract

On the Identification of Local Structural Defects in Composite Thin-Walled Structures

Highlights

  • Composites are a category of engineering plastics characterized by a number of peculiar conditions related to the design process, manufacturing and verification tests

  • This graph contains both the results obtained through the experiment and those obtained as a result of numerical analysis

  • The dashed line refers to the results of the experiment, whereas the solid line shows the trend for the results of numerical analysis

Summary

Introduction

Composites are a category of engineering plastics characterized by a number of peculiar conditions related to the design process, manufacturing and verification tests. In order to identify the local damage to the thin-walled composite structures, two methods were analyzed to determine the presence of damage. The conditions determining the possibilities of extending the scope of applications of the said method to identify local damage to thin-walled composite structures were considered.
