Abstract
This chapter examines the structure of Philo running commentary, the Allegorical Commentary. This commentary series is both complex and extensive, so that a selection must be made. In the rewritten Bible, called the Exposition of the Laws of Moses, Philo ties the different parts together by interpretative transitional statements, and he has also given summary statements by which he outlines the content of larger units of the work. The expositions in the allegorical commentary vary in length and are more complex than those found in Philo's Questions and Answers on Genesis and on Exodus. The treatises On the Giants and On the Unchangeableness of God are chosen for more detailed examination because they are a pair and illustrate how some of the treatises are woven together. Nikiprowetzky thinks that On the Giants and On the Unchangeableness of God are a collection of exegetical questions and answers.Keywords: Allegorical Commentary; Nikiprowetzky; rewritten Bible
