Abstract

A total of 48 geothermal gradient measurements in thermally stabilized boreholes, fairly uniformly distributed over the study area enabled a heat flow map to be produced and the relationship between tectonics and heat flow to be discussed. Simple conductive models were constructed for two profiles, revealing interesting features of the deep thermal structure. The thermal regime of the study area is related to major tectonic features such as crustal faults, thrusting and large-scale intrusive bodies.
