Abstract

Initial results in the application of modern control techniques to the improvement of the quality of medical acoustic imaging systems are described. An optimal linear quadratic feedback control law is used to generate a desired pressure signature from a high frequency acoustic projector. The specialized hardware, the algorithm, and initial tests on an equivalent circuit are described. A discussion of problems encountered in the implementation is included.
