Abstract

We point out invalid results concerning a q-deformed Dirac oscillator in two dimensions (2D DO) studied by some authors. We propose another deformed variant of this model and obtain its exact energy eigenvalues and their associated eigenstates. We find in particular that the deformation breaks the infinite degeneracy of the energy spectrum, thereby changing drastically the dynamics of the oscillator. The behavior of the system in the presence of a constant transverse magnetic field is investigated in detail. The parallelism with Jaynes–Cummings (JC) and Anti-Jaynes–Cummings (AJC) models of quantum optics, and the zitterbewegung (ZB) phenomenon are also discussed.
