Abstract

The [Rh(SnCl 3) 5] 4− complex anion, extracted into chloroform containing a quaternary ammonium type liquid anion exchanger, is readily and reversibly protonated in the chloroform phase to yield the stereochemically rigid, [RhH(SnCl 3) 5] 3− complex.
